A Little About Amber
Hi everyone!
First of all, THANK YOU for taking the time to look at my website. The Melanoma Awareness and Prevention Program is something that is very close to my heart. I hope no one has to go through skin cancer, especially at as young of an age as I did. Please take the time to look at all the pages of the About M.A.P.P. Tab (those are the important ones!).
It's now been 5.5 years since I was first diagnosed with Melanoma, and I have been fortunate all other skin scrapes have come back negative for any cancer. During those 5.5 years, I opened my own business, married my high school sweetheart, and have learned to be the best dog mom ever! My husband, Jacob, first asked me out on a date in November of 2005 and then fast forward almost 12 years later to May 2017 when we were married. We are best friends and enjoy many of the same hobbies.
Besides promoting M.A.P.P., I enjoy a wide array of activities. One of my favorites is spending time outdoors either camping, hiking, or floating the river with my husband in our kayaks. I've always enjoyed the outdoors, but now I take better preventive measures for exposure to the sun. I am also very competitive and grew up playing many different sports, including softball, volleyball, basketball, track, and bowling. Now days, I enjoy working out at the gym and running outdoors.
I graduated from UCA in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. My senior year I was named the College of Business Accounting Student of the Year and was part of the UCA Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honor Society Best Practices team that placed first in Regionals and third at Internationals. I also had the honor of being named to the UCA Who's Who List for all of my involvement over the past four years.
Currently, I am self-employed and own TFL Boutique. We specialize in making fashion affordable for ladies of all ages! Our name has more to it than just TFL. It actually stands for The Fair Lady with "FAIR" standing for Faithful, Aspiring, Intelligent, and Refined, which is what we think a "fair" lady should be. Over the years, we just started calling it TFL and it stuck. TFL started out as an online boutique and quickly expanded to a storefront and mobile boutique. By the way, sunglasses and information cards about skin cancer often frequent all our online packages we ship to our customers. When you are given a means to spread awareness nationwide, why not go for it?
Owning at clothing store allows me to use my business experience and fashion sense! What more could I ask for in a career?
